Painful Sty

by User ImageLorelei on Feb.09, 2009, under Health Matters, Health and Personal Care, Personal

My fifth day of having a sty. And another day out of the office..:(

I won’t say that this is unusual to me because as far as my family members (and me) can remember I’ve the same painful sty last year just about the same season. Though I’m not really sure of last year’s cause, now I’m pretty sure it has something to do with stress. Rushing on editing our whole year photos for two days is kind of stressful especially if you’re rushing for the Printing Exhibit, which only happens once a year.

Now, my right eye is still kindly swollen and it really hurts especially if touched. It’s itchy.. It’s red.. And it’s just not normal.. But I’d say that it’s better than yesterday. So, thanks to Cloxacillin and Maxitrol! Hehehe..

Best Remedy For Fever

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.22, 2009, under !Enzo, Do-It-Yourself, Health Matters, Health and Personal Care, Personal, blogging

Because Enzo had a high fever for two days, I decided to do some research on what options do i have in lowering a high temperature. Of course, there are things which are very well known to us like taking medicines, drinking lots of water, plenty of rest and using cold towels as a fast-acting remedy to fever. But do you know that aside from TLC (tender loving and care).. Egg Whites by far is the best remedy in lowering a high temperature?

3D/4D Ultrasound vs. Traditional 2D Ultrasound

by User ImageLorelei on Oct.07, 2008, under Health Matters, blogging

I was sorting out some files at home when I saw my 3D/4D ultrasound when I was pregnant with Enzo. Looking at it made me asked myself whether it’s really worth it or having a 2D is all right.

What exactly is 3D/4D Ultrasound?
Well, it’s a full service prenatal digital imaging that brings images of your unborn baby to life. Isn’t that cool?

Yes, it is actually cool! You get to see your baby like never before, creating an intimate bonding experience. Well, some studies shown that seeing your unborn baby can help alleviate maternal anxiety and depression, which is very normal during pregnancy, as well as enable the father feel more connected to the pregnancy.

So, what about 2D Ultrasound?
Well, it is sometimes referred as the “traditional” ultrasound. It works by listening to the sound waves in a single plain, which makes the details visible to create a remarkable clarity.

2D & 3D Ultrasound

4D Ultrasound

Well, whether 2D, 3D or 4D, they actually analyze the ff:

  • Determine the age of the baby
  • Analyze the development of the baby
  • Evaluate multiple pregnancies
  • Detect structural problems in the uterus
  • Detect abnormalities
  • Etc…

Having said, they are all ok, if the price is right. 3D/4D are known to be expensive than 2D, but could also benefit you in some ways like it’s not in B/W, it’s clearer and 4D means having a video that you can actually watch, over and over again. :)

Orchiopexy

by User ImageLorelei on Sep.22, 2008, under Health Matters

Orchiopexy (or orchidopexy) is a surgery to move an undescended testicle into the scrotum and permanently fix it there. It is performed by a pediatric urologist or surgeon on boys with cryptorchidism, typically before they reach the age of two. Some patients remain undiagnosed until their teenage years and undergo the surgery at that time.

The undescended testicle may be located within the normal line of descent (for example, in the inguinal canal) or high in the scrotum or ectopically (i.e. the abdomen). The surgeon may use an endoscope through the umbilicus to locate the testicle, and through other small opening(s) performs the procedure. The higher the testicle, the less successful the procedure. However, the procedure has a high success rate overall.
