Farmville or Farmtown?

by Lorelei on Sep.26, 2009, under Flash Games, Fun and Entertainment, blogging

I know. I know. Facebook is one of those addicting sites right now. I bet you already have your own account. Probably not just one, especially if you’re playing some of their games. =D

OK, so two of those really cool games right now are Farmville and Farmtown.

Just a little introduction for those who are not playing yet, they’re both flash games in Facebook wherein you can plow, plant and harvest. It’s like creating and managing your own farm. You gain experience points as you go along and this is necessary for you to level up. You gain coins too and you use it for buying seeds, farm house, etc. So, basically, it’s farming! :)

Now, which is better? Hmm.. Let’s see..

Spare Time + Beads = Possible Extra Income

by User ImageLorelei on Mar.07, 2009, under Do-It-Yourself, Extra Income, Fun and Entertainment, Personal, blogging

I am one of the many moms who happens to love working with beads and other crafts. Though, I am not that active for so long, I am a beader myself.

Way back on my HS days when I love to accessorized myself, I tend to make my own beaded jewelries. I am no expert compared to others but I was able to make the jewelries I envisioned. I used to make one for my friends too.

Anyway, just about 11 days ago, I decided to relive my past hobby — beading. Again, it’s just for my own personal accessories, which I can make during my spare time, up until I was advised by a friend to sell it anyways… … … * After minutes of realization * … … … “Why not? I think I can make my own and sell it out in the market, just like other beaders do.” It’s not gonna be easy but I think I can work it out, slowly.

So, what’s spare time + beads? A possible extra income for me! :)

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.25, 2009, under Fun and Entertainment, blogging

Chinese New Year (or Spring Festival) is considered one of the most important events in China. It is the first day of the lunar year that marks as Chinese New Year. It falls on late January and early February. For this year, the Chinese New Year falls on January 26; the Year of the Ox.

Chinese people prepares for this holiday by making sure that life is in order or at least under control, like the house should be clean; problems have been resolved, clothes should be clean or new, etc.

Usually, a sticky rice pudding called Nian gao (or tikoy) is present in the feast, as well as dumplings. Nian gao is also given to family and friends, in the belief that the stickiness of the rice pudding will hold the family together. It also brings good fortune and sweetness to one’s life, as to its round shape and sweet taste.

During this time, houses are being decorated with lights and lanterns. Red is also the popular color when celebrating Chinese New Year. There are also lots of musical parades; the most famous of which is the dragon and lion dance. The dragon is the deity of water ensuring that no drought will come. The lion, on the other hand, helps ward off evil spirits since it symbolizes power and courage.

Happy Chinese New Year! :)

Rodel & Gina Tied d’ Knot (12/27/2008)

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.20, 2009, under Fun and Entertainment, weddings

Every wedding is unique and for me, Gina and Rodel’s wedding is one of the prettiest weddings I have ever managed. Aside from Gina’s being so stylish when it comes to her weddings, she’s a bride that’s so prepared in every detail of her wedding. I love her being so involved in her preparations. Others would normally get the suppliers and be satisfied with what they will bring into the day itself, but with Gina, even with the hectic schedule at hand, she had the time to deal with other things that will make the wedding an elegant one.

Congratulations again, Rodel and Gina! :)

DVD List to Download

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.19, 2009, under Fun and Entertainment, blogging

I love watching movies! And I love downloading them too (and well sometimes, asking hubby to do the downloads)..

Well, to save some bucks spent over the movie houses; to watch it at home with the whole family (or by myself); and to be able to press the ‘pause’ button of the remote when I needed to.

So for this month, here’s my list (for my hubby to download)!

Priorities.. Interesting titles because of their high tomato meter from RottenTomatoes.com or just because I haven’t seen them and it’s from my favorite genre.

- Bolt
- Pineapple Express
- Appaloosa
- Slumdog Millionaire
- One Missed Call
- 27 Dresses
- 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days

Next in line.. Some titles I’ve already seen but love to watch again if only I have the copy. Some are interesting because of their tomato meter too.

- Twilight (didn’t like it first because of how it turned out from the novel to the movie (see my own review), but definitely love the second time I watched it in a pirated DVD)
- The Day the Earth Stood Still
- Eagle Eye
- Valkyrie
- Marley & Me
- The Forbidden Kingdom
- Wanted (love this movie! love Jolie!)
- Traitor
- Gran Torino
- Quantum of Solace (of course! it’s Bond.. James Bond..)
- Max Payne
- Bedtime Stories (another Adam Sandler movie.. should be great..)
- Seven Pounds
- The Spirit

Fresh tomatoes but not a priority..

- Vicky Cristina Barcelona
- Happy-Go-Lucky
- Let the Right One In
- Rachel Getting Married
- Timecrimes

Not sure about these titles.. but I’m willing to take the risks of downloading them. I love thriller/horror movies so I’m giving them the chance to scare me away. Hahaha :)

- Deadly Memories
- The Craving
- Cruel Restaurant
- Hospitality

Love these titles! To trim off the inches and fats! Hahaha :)…

- Dance off the Inches: Dance It off Ballroom
- Belly Dance For Body Shaping: Abs

Btw, if it’s not on the list, it’s possible that it’s already on my hard-drive. *wink*

Ending 2008 With Couple’s In-Love

by User ImageLorelei on Dec.07, 2008, under Fun and Entertainment, Personal

One of the busiest month in the wedding industry is December. Couples just love to get married by this time of the year. The weather is great, it’s cool, plus it has the spirit of Christmas.

This December is such a blessing for us. M&U Events Planning and Direction (my own company) hasn’t been in the wedding industry for so long, but is blessed to have clients who trusts us and believe in what we can do.

A week from now, my team & I will be coordinating Jun & Cheng’s wedding. Jun is a doctor while Cheng owns the Cheng Body Care Salon Co. in Greenhills. I haven’t met Jun personally but from the photos Cheng showed me, I believe he’s one great guy, especially for Cheng.. The wedding will take place in Sanctuario de San Antonio Catholic Church, and then the reception will be held at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.

Twilight Movie Review

by User ImageLorelei on Nov.27, 2008, under Fun and Entertainment, blogging

It was a great day yesterday. “Finally”, as I said to myself. “It’s already Nov. 26 and I would be able to watch the most awaiting Twilight ever.” At least for me and my two other friends.

So after spending only half of the day at the office, picking up and sending Enzo in Cainta, hubby and I went to Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, to watch the Twilight the movie. It was only 3:30PM when we got there. Didn’t want to watch it during the night time because I was afraid there will be a lot of people watching it after office hours. We got the 4PM schedule instead.

I know that there are a lot of negative reviews already about the movie, since it’s been in theater’s since Nov.21 in USA, but still I wanted to watch it myself because I really love the book. I also know that books are always better than movies because you’re basically not limited to 1-2hours. You get to know the feeling of the characters, their thoughts, etc, etc..

Anyway, I’m not gonna give a lot of details about the movie itself. but I will share what i have in thought about it..

Twilight

by User ImageLorelei on Nov.14, 2008, under Fun and Entertainment, blogging

The other day, two of my friends from work has been relentlessly talking about the New York Best Selling Novel ‘Twilight’.

Twilight is a series of romance/vampire-based fantasy novels written by Stephanie Meyer. It is the story of Edward and Bella’s romance that is both compassionate and fascinating. Their love is wistful, yet at the same time, they’re both unwilling to give up hope. The story is told in the perspective of Bella, and that simply made it more exciting and mysterious.

Twilight simply yet perfectly written to satisfy both teenagers and adults alike. Twilight is so unique that you can almost feel what you’re reading.

Also, watch out for the upcoming movie adaptation of the first book, Twilight. Starring Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
