Update: TS ‘Ondoy’ Flooded Our House in Cainta, Rizal
by Lorelei on Sep.27, 2009, under blogging
This is just an update on my first post Tropical Storm ‘Ondoy’ Flooded Our House in Cainta, Rizal yesterday.
Yesterday was a disaster to most of us here in Manila. It was unexpected and most of us are not ready to face ‘Ondoy’. And yesterday was supposedly just like any other day where some people goes to work on Saturdays and some stays at home with their families. A typical family, just like ours. Daddy goes to work, brother goes to work and left alone in the house is our auntie who’s already 50+ years old.
My father, who works in La Funeraria Paz, wasn’t able to come home yesterday because he was stranded in the 2nd floor of their office in Araneta Ave. Though the office is elevated, the flood reached their offices & chapels. It was approximately more than 10 feet from the street and about a chest deep level when on the ground floor offices. No food for the rest of the night for them until they were able to get out this morning and look for an open joint.. We’ve been updating each other since, through the single landline that’s working on the 2nd floor..
One of my brothers who’s been working in Batasan, Q.C. area, wasn’t able to come home too. He stayed there w/ his wife and just got home today at 2PM. He walked from 9AM- from Batasan, QC to our home in Village East, Cainta, because there is still no transportation.. The flood in Karangalan Gate 5, as of 11AM was still up to his waist line (he stands around 5′6″..) In Village East, as of 2PM, Phase 1 (church area) was still up to his chest..
Flood inside the house is already gone, but traces of it are very visible. It’s muddy and everything’s just not the same.. No water supply.. No electricity.. No phone lines..
I’m not sure about our dogs yet. No news about the missing red car too. Don’t know what happened to the yellow car in the garage. Daddy’s not going home yet. He’s old and he’d rather stay in the office and wait till the water subsides. I have no news about auntie too, but I am hoping that she’s all right..
I don’t know how much damage did ‘Ondoy’ left us, but I’m glad that my whole family is safe now.
Thanks God!

My parents and brother and sister live in Phase 3 of Vista Verde. I lived in Cainta from 1981 to 1993. Our house in Phase 3 was never reached by flood water even though Phase 1 and 2 got flooded. Do you have any news if Phase 3 got affected by the flood? I still am not able to reach any of my family members.

Hi! I am in the States, but my mom and dad live in our house in Country Homes. I haven’t heard from them since the typhoon started and I’m really worried. My dad is bedridden because he suffered from stroke last May. I don’t know how they are. I’m really scared.

I was able to reach a cousin of mine who lives in QC(I forgot what place now). He was able to call my parents thru a landline. My parents told my cousin that flooding inside the house was very minimal and that there is nothing to worry.
I wish everybody good luck in getting out of this big mess.
Take care.

to Lonnie..
I got a call from my brother this morning, and we’re from Village East too. He told me that the water supply is back & so as the electricity, but still no phone so you may not still be able to call them in landlines. No more flood, but yes the village is a mess. Everybody in the village seems cleaning up their own houses.
