Tropical Storm ‘Ondoy’ Flooded Our House in Cainta, Rizal
by Lorelei on Sep.26, 2009, under blogging
Tropical storm “Ondoy” (international code name Ketsana) slammed into the eastern side of the northern Philippines before noon Saturday, bringing rains that caused widespread flooding in many parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila…
And just moments ago when I got the news from my father that the flood already made it in our house in Cainta, Rizal. It’s never like this. Our house, compared to the others is a lot higher already, but this storm is so strong.. The water inside the house is almost at the knee level and if it’s like that, then it’s around 4 feet from the ground already.. Imagine that.. This is so bad..
UPDATE as of 1:17 PM..
My brother’s red car in front of the house is also missing.. OMG!
UPDATE as of September 28, 2009 (8:55PM)
Some areas in Village East are now passable. Flood in some areas subsided already. No water. No electricity. No phone lines.
Red car’s been found. Dogs are fine. House is covered with mud & trash.
For those who are capable of helping others by donation, please visit this section Donations for Victims of Typhoon Ondoy. Thank you.

I just heard that my children are safe in the neighbor’s house. Finally I can make a sigh of relief. For 3 hours I did not know what happened to them. The flood is thigh-high inside the house and the house if about 2 meters higher than the streets. The waters rose so fast that my children got trapped inside the house. Thank you Lord and thank you whoever helped them.
September 26th, 2009 on 3:04 pm
Good to hear that even though we’re experiencing something like this, there are people who are made instrument by God to help all of us. I’m glad that your kids are all right.
September 26th, 2009 on 3:13 pm
It is so frustrating not to know what to do and who to ask help from. Am in L.A. and my children are there, needing my help! Our community is wonderful. I hope whoever helped them will hear that I am thanking them from the very core of me. As of now, celphones are still not connecting. What to do in an emergency? I just realized that praying is best.
September 26th, 2009 on 6:51 pm
..People should be careful because some roofs are flying away! The flood is very high!..
September 26th, 2009 on 7:26 pm
hi! i’m also from cainta, and i’m wondering where your village is. my house is in valley view executive village, but i’m now in davao. i don’t know if my house got flooded too. been trying to contact people, but couldn’t reach them.
September 26th, 2009 on 7:29 pm
Ched >> OMG! I thought you’re just stranded in Manila and the kids are at home. Well, you’re right, connection is really bad right now. I can’t even call our pldt landline in Cainta from Makati. Let’s do just pray.
May >> Yes, the last time I saw the news it’s so very high. In Cainta, it’s around 6 feet already.
September 26th, 2009 on 7:34 pm
Hi Les! My parent’s house is in Village East. I believe the whole town is in deep flood. And yes, it’s impossible to reach any phone lines/cellphones right now. It’s really bad.
September 26th, 2009 on 8:07 pm
I live in Cainta too but I’m currently in Singapore. I understand what you feel, the flood inside our house is already neck-high according to the last conversation I had with my sister. The bed, cabinets, ref, and other furnitures are already floating! Right now they are staying with our neighbor who happens to have a 2nd floor. Now I’m worried about what they gonna eat because four other families are also in the same roof. I wish I can do something to help them.
September 26th, 2009 on 8:40 pm
Hi Laiza! You can always pray. I believe it’s the only thing that you can do right now.
September 26th, 2009 on 9:02 pm

Hello guys.. my house is in Brookside Hills gate 3. Up to now, I have not heard from them. I guess their cels need charging but since there is no power, I don’t know when I will hear from them. Am just happy that they are safe. My house is a 1-storey one and am imagining the worse. Maybe the roof is still there. From the street, my floor level is about 2 meters up.I just spoke with my neighbor in Brookside who is in NJ now. His family moved to the same house my girls went to.The name of the good Samaritan is Pilo. Thank you Pilo for taking in my girls (and maybe the dogs too).

i am out of the country right now but my family and home is in brookside, baltimore st and i got tragic news from my sis that our house is already under water including 2 cars. good thing we have a 2nd floor and my family is up there but our neighbors are mostly on their houses’ roofs.they’re being asked to come over but i dont think it’s easy to swim in flood water that is more than 6ft deep.
September 27th, 2009 on 9:00 am
As of Sept.27 (8:50AM)..
Rescuers are focused on Marikina and Cainta area. Water subsided a bit in some areas bringing it to a waist-deep to chest-deep level.
September 27th, 2009 on 9:07 am
Hi Mark! 2nd floor is really better than staying in the rooftop. Good thing you’re able to talk to your sister. Here, it’s really hard for me to communicate with my family even if I’m only in Makati.

hi Cathy Valeriano! My dad & brother is in Village East too. In what Phase of the village is your family? We are from Phase 3 main road and according to my brother, which I’ve talked to this afternoon, there is no more flood in our area, but there are some streets that are still flooded, especially near the church.
September 28th, 2009 on 9:46 pm
To Teresa Avila.. Vista Verde is still flooded, but rescuers are into it already. Felix Ave. is not yet passable too. But, water in most area has subsided a bit already. From the news this evening, Bayani Fernando visited Vista Verde himself to see the on going operations and instructed more rescuers to attend to the residents. Some streets are also narrow so they’re having a hard time entering it.

Im in SG and my family stays at Greenpark Cainta Phase 7, my brother from Bulacan told me that they have talked to my mother already thru cellphone. My mother said that there is no more flood, but its very muddy. And up to now, no electricity yet. Im having a hard time contacting them, due to weak signal and uncharge phones. God bless Cainta, Marikina, and Pasig.

September 29th, 2009 on 4:38 pm
I apologize for the bother, but would you happen to have any news of the situation along Daytona St. in Village East? We haven’t heard from my uncle or cousins since Ondoy hit.
Thank you so much.
September 29th, 2009 on 9:15 pm
To thecityforever..
I got a call from my brother this morning, and we’re from Village East too. He told me that the water supply is back & so as the electricity, but still no phone so you may not still be able to call them in landlines. No more flood, but yes the village is a mess. Everybody in the village seems cleaning up their own houses.

hello all..
I saw a couple mentions of brookside hills in here. I’m from Canada but Brookside has been my second home over the past year, and a huge amount of people that i love are out there (New Hope Christian Fellowship on Sunset Blvd and New York St) Does anyone know what it looks like out there? I Can’t get ahold of any one. I”ve tried e-mail, cell phones, landlines and I haven’t heard anything. I’m really, really worried and scared for them. What is it like in Brookside right now? HOw bad is the damage?
Please let me know, i know that drainage on that street is terrible..
