Remove Write Protection for DV RS-MMC (Memory Card)

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.24, 2009, under Gadgets, blogging

Have you experienced a problem with your RS-MMC (memory card)? Say, you take it out of your mobile phone and decided to use a memory card reader to transfer some photos, mp3s, etc.. because you have no USB cable for your phone and then you get an error message that goes something like this: “The disk is write protected. Remove the write protection or use another card“?

Yeah, well unfortunately for me and to others who have experienced this, it’s actually irritating, especially if you didn’t set any password on it and if it was ok the last time you used it.

Ok, so I’ve tried a lot of things and researched everywhere just to make it work. And I’ve got a lot of inputs too on how to solve this problem..

- Change the attributes of the memory card to make it read-able. Not Successful!

- Format the memory card using your mobile phone. Not Successful!

- Format the memory card using a digi-cam. Not Successful!

- Format the memory card using the available card reader. Not Successful!

- Turn off your mobile phone first before taking off the memory card. Not Successful!

- Remove the password using your mobile phone. Not Successful!

- Trash your memory card and buy a new one. :(

Aarggghh! Really!?

So, after an hour of experimenting, I decided to try something else.. My other memory card reader built-in, in my laptop. Why didn’t I think of that before!? Maybe the problem isn’t really the memory card but the card reader itself. So, I hooked up the memory card using my improvised adaptor (since I can’t find my adaptor anymore) and then voila! Everything’s back to normal! :)

So, if ever you’ve experienced something like this. Try not to throw your memory card right away. Try to do some things first. It’s not gonna be the same thing to everyone, but at least you get to check on it first before actually purchasing another one.

    Hey guys,

    I found a great deal on http://www.MemorySticksPro.com for 2gb 4gb 8gb and 16gb memory sticks.

I purchased one 2-3 days back and already received it so the deal seems sound. I am bargain hunter and I
looked all over ebay, amazon, buy.com, etc. but this was the cheapest I found so thought I’d share with
everyone as my first post on this forum ever.

Hope it helps! Give me some reps!

just go to commend prompt and format the drive like
    c:/>format /q i:

after formatting the drive you can able to upload copy the contents

but make sure the card is not password protected

this will work in windows sp2
