Kung Hei Fat Choi!

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.25, 2009, under Fun and Entertainment, blogging

Chinese New Year (or Spring Festival) is considered one of the most important events in China. It is the first day of the lunar year that marks as Chinese New Year. It falls on late January and early February. For this year, the Chinese New Year falls on January 26; the Year of the Ox.

Chinese people prepares for this holiday by making sure that life is in order or at least under control, like the house should be clean; problems have been resolved, clothes should be clean or new, etc.

Usually, a sticky rice pudding called Nian gao (or tikoy) is present in the feast, as well as dumplings. Nian gao is also given to family and friends, in the belief that the stickiness of the rice pudding will hold the family together. It also brings good fortune and sweetness to one’s life, as to its round shape and sweet taste.

During this time, houses are being decorated with lights and lanterns. Red is also the popular color when celebrating Chinese New Year. There are also lots of musical parades; the most famous of which is the dragon and lion dance. The dragon is the deity of water ensuring that no drought will come. The lion, on the other hand, helps ward off evil spirits since it symbolizes power and courage.

Happy Chinese New Year! :)

Remove Write Protection for DV RS-MMC (Memory Card)

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.24, 2009, under Gadgets, blogging

Have you experienced a problem with your RS-MMC (memory card)? Say, you take it out of your mobile phone and decided to use a memory card reader to transfer some photos, mp3s, etc.. because you have no USB cable for your phone and then you get an error message that goes something like this: “The disk is write protected. Remove the write protection or use another card“?

Yeah, well unfortunately for me and to others who have experienced this, it’s actually irritating, especially if you didn’t set any password on it and if it was ok the last time you used it.

Ok, so I’ve tried a lot of things and researched everywhere just to make it work. And I’ve got a lot of inputs too on how to solve this problem..

Best Remedy For Fever

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.22, 2009, under !Enzo, Do-It-Yourself, Health Matters, Health and Personal Care, Personal, blogging

Because Enzo had a high fever for two days, I decided to do some research on what options do i have in lowering a high temperature. Of course, there are things which are very well known to us like taking medicines, drinking lots of water, plenty of rest and using cold towels as a fast-acting remedy to fever. But do you know that aside from TLC (tender loving and care).. Egg Whites by far is the best remedy in lowering a high temperature?

Rodel & Gina Tied d’ Knot (12/27/2008)

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.20, 2009, under Fun and Entertainment, weddings

Every wedding is unique and for me, Gina and Rodel’s wedding is one of the prettiest weddings I have ever managed. Aside from Gina’s being so stylish when it comes to her weddings, she’s a bride that’s so prepared in every detail of her wedding. I love her being so involved in her preparations. Others would normally get the suppliers and be satisfied with what they will bring into the day itself, but with Gina, even with the hectic schedule at hand, she had the time to deal with other things that will make the wedding an elegant one.

Congratulations again, Rodel and Gina! :)

DVD List to Download

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.19, 2009, under Fun and Entertainment, blogging

I love watching movies! And I love downloading them too (and well sometimes, asking hubby to do the downloads)..

Well, to save some bucks spent over the movie houses; to watch it at home with the whole family (or by myself); and to be able to press the ‘pause’ button of the remote when I needed to.

So for this month, here’s my list (for my hubby to download)!

Priorities.. Interesting titles because of their high tomato meter from RottenTomatoes.com or just because I haven’t seen them and it’s from my favorite genre.

- Bolt
- Pineapple Express
- Appaloosa
- Slumdog Millionaire
- One Missed Call
- 27 Dresses
- 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days

Next in line.. Some titles I’ve already seen but love to watch again if only I have the copy. Some are interesting because of their tomato meter too.

- Twilight (didn’t like it first because of how it turned out from the novel to the movie (see my own review), but definitely love the second time I watched it in a pirated DVD)
- The Day the Earth Stood Still
- Eagle Eye
- Valkyrie
- Marley & Me
- The Forbidden Kingdom
- Wanted (love this movie! love Jolie!)
- Traitor
- Gran Torino
- Quantum of Solace (of course! it’s Bond.. James Bond..)
- Max Payne
- Bedtime Stories (another Adam Sandler movie.. should be great..)
- Seven Pounds
- The Spirit

Fresh tomatoes but not a priority..

- Vicky Cristina Barcelona
- Happy-Go-Lucky
- Let the Right One In
- Rachel Getting Married
- Timecrimes

Not sure about these titles.. but I’m willing to take the risks of downloading them. I love thriller/horror movies so I’m giving them the chance to scare me away. Hahaha :)

- Deadly Memories
- The Craving
- Cruel Restaurant
- Hospitality

Love these titles! To trim off the inches and fats! Hahaha :)…

- Dance off the Inches: Dance It off Ballroom
- Belly Dance For Body Shaping: Abs

Btw, if it’s not on the list, it’s possible that it’s already on my hard-drive. *wink*

Chapped Lips on Toddlers

by User ImageLorelei on Jan.19, 2009, under !Enzo, Health and Personal Care

I noticed that Enzo (my 2-year old son) has chapped lips. Well, it’s still cold lately and it’s no surprised that he’s having it. But what can I do? What kind of lip cream/ointment should I use on him? Is vaseline a safe choice? Or is there another option?
